  • DFID-TERI Clean Energy Access project in Africa Project dissemination workshop

    The DFID-TERI Clean Energy Access Project dissemination workshop held from July 9-10, 2015. The project activities were focused Kenya and Ethiopia as key implementation countries in East Africa. Project implementation is being carried out through two national focal points (ACTS in Kenya and HoAREC&N in Ethiopia). The project disseminated on a pilot scale 33,000 improved cook stoves and 23,000 solar lanterns through innovative business models and financing options to bring improved quality of life to the rural households in the region. The project has brought out many lessons in terms of success stories, impacts on the ground and policy considerations at the government level. The major objectives of the project dissemination workshop is to share the knowledge gained to all key stakeholders in the clean energy access space in the East African region in general and target countries in particular. The dissemination workshop is aimed at possibilities of convergence with the existing or proposed new projects implemented by government or private sector as part of the sustainability of the project activities.

  • Road to Paris Regional Dialogue - What kind of agreement do we need?

    The Energy and Resources Institute (TERI) together with, The Horn of Africa Regional Environment Centre & Network (HoA-REC&N), Centre Francais d'Etudes Ethiopiennes (CFEE), and Pan-African Climate Justice Alliance (PACJA), hosted a Regional Conference on Road to Paris "What Kind of Agreement Do We Need in Paris" From 7-9 April 2015 at the Gullele Botanic Garden (GBG), Addis Ababa, Ethiopia.

    On the three three-day event; policy-makers, experts, civil society and other relevant stakeholders were present. High-level dialogues, expert presentations and various working sessions were part to the event aimed at culminating in recommendations for enhancing the response to climate change for African nations through national, regional and global efforts in the context of COP21.   • TERI Biomass Gasifier Learning Event

    Venue: Gullele Botanic Garden (GBG), Addis Ababa, Ethiopia

    On Thursday, May 22, 2014, The Energy and Resources Institute (TERI), the Swiss Agency for Development and Cooperation (SDC), and the Horn of Africa Regional Environment Centre and Network (HoA-REC&N) hosted a stakeholder consultation workshop to strengthen local manufacturing of biomass gasifiers for thermal applications for micro, small, and medium enterprises (MSMEs). This event, held at the Gullele Botanic Garden, is the South-South knowledge and technology transfer component of the TERI-SDC Biomass Project.

  • National Workshop on Dissemination of Solar Energy Technologies in Ethiopia: Opportunities & Challenges

    TERI in collaboration with HoA-REC&N held a workshop on the "Dissemination of Solar Energy Technologies in Ethiopia: Success, Stories, Challenges & Opportunities" and it was held from May 19–20, 2014 at the HoA-REC&N headquarters in the Gullele Botanic Garden (GBG), Addis Ababa, Ethiopia. The national workshop brought together the major players in the Ethiopian solar energy technology sector and offered solutions to some of the challenges it faces.

  • Technology Discussion Forum (TDF)

    Date: May 23, 2013
    Venue: Desalegn Hotel, Addis Ababa, Ethiopia

    HoA-REC&N/TERI hosted a Technology Discussion Forum (TDF) on quality standards and performance benchmarks for improved cookstoves and solar lighting home systems in Ethiopia. This one day TDF congregated relevant stakeholders such as the Ministry of Water & Energy, Ethiopian Conformity Assessment Enterprise, GIZ-ECO, Ethiopian Solar Energy Society Companies, Cookstove Fabricators, NGOs, and consultants in the Ethiopian energy sector.
